At Lancaster Lane we firmly believe that maths should be challenging but fun!  We use many practical approaches to develop skills and understanding.  Our lessons are based on the Lancs Maths Plans.

The children come to school with a variety of different experiences of maths. The staff will build upon those experiences through their work in the daily mathematics lesson and develop each child’s ability to think clearly and logically enabling them to have the confidence to tackle problems of a mathematical nature.

Problem solving and reasoning is a high priority in our maths lessons.

Children in Years 4,  5 and 6 regularly use individual tables and  Learning by Questions materials to develop their reasoning an dproblem solving skills..

All the children are working hard to learn their multiplication tables.

Click on these links to help your child master theirs:  NB Lancaster Lane School is not responsible for the content on extrenal sites.

Maths Chase is a completely free site where you can quickly test your times tables.

The site is a very simple game but I think kids will find it a really fun way to learn their times tables.

Year 5 have been solving ratio problems whilst making pancakes.

They also converted metric units and calculated time.
